What are you reading now?

Forgotten Voices of D-Day, Roderick Bailey. I picked up this book in a thrift shop for a dollar and was very glad I did. This is a chronological narrative as told by the participants of the Normandy landings, 6th June 1944, 400 pages of recollections by people who were there. The mistakes, the waste, the triumphs, the atmosphere, the horror, the relief, the joy. This is history told by the men who crawled through the surf, not told second-hand by academics. Unputdownable.”

Jasper Fforde, author of The Eye of Zoltar

Fforde appears at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Books & Books, 265 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables
