Keanu Reeves talks his love for motorcycles and the new 'Hooligans' documentary
Keanu Reeves is best known for his iconic roles in action movies like Speed, The Matrix and the John Wick franchise. But the Canadian actor has another -- maybe less well known -- passion: motorcycles. Reeves and his longtime friend Gard Hollinger founded ARCH Motorcycle Company back in 2011, and now the duo is taking things to the track -- and taking us with them -- with a dramatic documentary series.
Hooligans: The ARCH Racing Project with Keanu Reeves & Gard Hollinger premieres on the Samsung TV Plus channel this Sunday, and follows as the new racing team navigates the challenging world of MotoAmerica road racing.
Reeves and Hollinger met when the actor commissioned a custom bike build, and the duo became close friends. This eventually led to the creation of ARCH Motorcycle Company, and now this new endeavor.
The Point Break actor loves everything about being on the track and around motorcycles. "I love how they look," Reeves explained in a recent interview with For The Win. "I don't know why, but I'm drawn to them esthetically. I love how they look, and I love how they smell, and I love to ride them, and I love the sensation of riding a motorcycle, and the opportunities and travel and experiences that they can provide in such a unique way."
That love is evident in his longtime support of ARCH Motorcycle Company, and now in the racing world. The duo -- who are both part of the executive producing team for the project -- are just excited to share this journey and hopefully pick up some new fans along the way.
"I hope we get to tell the story of what it's like, the challenge of building a team, basically from nothing," Hollinger said of the process. "I hope that they get to have the experience of what road motorcycle road racing is, and American motorcycle road racing, and what these athletes sort of train their whole lives to do, and how special what they do is."
The premiere episode of Hooligans: The ARCH Racing Project with Keanu Reeves & Gard Hollinger airs at 9 p.m. on Samsung Television Network starting Sunday, July 12.
