Taylor Swift's Godson Wasn't at the Wedding - Jaime King, the Mom, Reveals Why
Updates continue to pour in surrounding the Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce wedding.
It's been described as an American version of a Royal Wedding, per The New York Times, and countless big names attended the July 3 ceremony.
One young guest who wasn't inside Madison Square Garden, however, was her godson: 10-year-old Leo Newman. He also happens to be the son of Jaime King, who has been friends with Swift, 36, over the years.
Days later, the actress, 47, is now addressing any speculation regarding her relationship with the billionaire pop star.
"The reason Jaime chose Taylor as Leo Thames's godmother is because they both believe that being a godmother is a deeply personal and spiritual commitment that has nothing to do with public appearances," King's publicist Jane Owen told Page Six in an article published Wednesday, July 8.
Owen continued, "Leo Thames is still too young for a large adult wedding celebration, but he and his mother were able to joyfully celebrate Taylor and Kelce's marriage in his own very special, age-appropriate way during his summer break."
The statement came one day after Page Six also reported that none of Swift's five godchildren attended the singer's wedding festivities with Kelce. Sources also said the daughters of the Travis' brother Jason Kelce were the only children who served as flower girls during the ceremony.
In other Swift-Kelce wedding news, fans quickly noticed an Elizabeth Taylor connection to the nuptials last weekend - given that one of the newlywed's singles off her latest album is named after Taylor. The renowned actress was never married at Madison Square Garden, but she did make headlines there nearly 70 years before Swift's wedding...
On Oct. 17, 1957, producer Mike Todd - Taylor's third husband - rented the original Madison Square Garden to celebrate the first anniversary of his Oscar-winning film Around the World in 80 Days. Find out more here.
