Diaz made a rare appearance on the Kelly Clarson show and spoke about the patience that goes with being mom to a toddler.
"I feel like as a parent it's just your job to be like ‘Okay, so what are you feeling here?" the Charlie's Angels star explained. "There's something there. … Kids are always trying to express a feeling, they're not actively trying to be bad."
The California native added: "I feel like as a parent my job is to help her find the words to her emotions, her experience, what she's going through, and be able to help her identify that, and then move through it."
The actress said she felt lucky to have started her motherhood journey after 40. "I think because I am an older parent and I really worked hard to get a child, I'm very fortunate to have been able to take the time to do it and be there with her," she reasoned.
A New Perspective
After a 10-year hiatus from acting, Diaz returned to Hollywood in January 2025 to star in Netflix's Back in Action alongside Jamie Foxx. The actress opened up about how her family influenced her decision to take a break from her career during an interview with E! News.
"You're a different person after you have children, after marriage, after building a life," she said at the time. "Everything changes, your whole perspective, your whole world, your understanding of it. For me, I never made a movie before with a family. So, all of the boxes change that need to be checked off. That's the most important, and then everything else has to line up to support that."
