Tom Brady, football coach? Watch his throwing skills on ‘Tonight Show’
Still got it.
For Tom Brady, football is like riding a bike, apparently. You never forget.
The NFL legend not only showed off his skills on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” on Tuesday night but also gave the host some key pointers.
Brady, 48, began his tutorial teaching Fallon, 51, how to stand correctly when throwing the ball.
The Hall of Famer said a common mistake people make is generating power with the upper body and opening up the shoulder too much.
“Where you really want the energy going is straight ahead,” the retired quarterback said, looking at the camera. “Rotate your body and throw ...You have to be nice and relaxed.”
“I am relaxed,” Fallon answered nervously. “What if this is terrible?”
Another of Brady’s tips concerned how to take on the stance of a pro athlete.
“Bend your knees, like a shortstop, like Derek Jeter,” the Fox commentator advised the “Fever Pitch” star. “Like you’re fielding a ground ball.”
Again, the GOAT tried to calm Fallon’s nerves.
“Relax your arm, rotate your body. Nice and easy. I always say: Fast but relaxed.”
As Fallon did as he was told, hurling the ball directly into his guest’s hands, Brady wanted him to try again. The Super Bowl champ then shows the comic the sweet spot on the pigskin where his fingers should go.
After Brady’s dead-on imitation of his old New England Patriots boss Bill Belichick — “Goddammit, Jimmy!” — Fallon launches again. This time it’s a rocket.
“Redeemed myself!” he said to applause.
“That was good!” Brady agreed, as the men shake hands.
The Miami Beach resident wasn’t there just to give free lessons. The gridiron great was promoting the Fanatics Flag Football Classic on Saturday at L.A.’s BMO Stadium. . No wonder Brady was warming up: He’s also set to play.
The Classic will air live on FOX Sports, FOX One and Tubi at 4 p.m. The event will also be streamed on the Fanatics YouTube channel. Kevin Hart plays host.
