Lucky number 13?
Thirteen years ago today — Jan. 22, 2005 — Donald and Melania Trump married at Bethesda-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Palm Beach, then had their reception at the president’s favorite place in the world, his nearby Mar-a-Lago.
The 350-person guest list was full of bold-faced names including people in the media: Barbara Walters, Katie Couric, Matt Lauer and Kelly Ripa.
Celebrities like Simon Cowell, Diddy, Usher and Billy Joel were also there, as well as his biggest Dem rival, Hillary Clinton, whom Trump now refers to only as Crooked Hillary (hubby Bill tagged along, too).
According to Vogue, the Slovenian model’s dress was a $100,000 number by Christian Dior that weighed 60 pounds. She wore it on the cover of the February issue of the fashion magazine, which added that invitations were made by Tiffany & Co. and the power couple served a five-foot-high, Grand Marnier-flavored cake. Cristal champagne was the adult beverage of choice.
No expense was spared for the lavish affair.
Speaking of affairs...
On Friday’s Real Time with Bill Maher, “Fire & Fury” author Michael Wolff implied that the president was consorting with a female “right now.” However, the author lacked proof, saying he didn’t have the “blue dress” — a reference to the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
Then there’s the whole sordid recent business with porn star Stormy Daniels. The latest issue of In Touch Weekly unearthed an interview she did with the magazine in 2011, in which she discussed having sex with the billionaire a number of times while the Trumps were still newlyweds.
On Monday, Trump mentioned nary a word about his bride or their special day, just ranted about the Dems and the shutdown.
Melania wasn’t too sentimental either.
On the first anniversary of his inauguration, she tweeted a picture of herself in her famous blue dress taking the arm of a soldier with his head down.
There’s been no tweet since.
What a difference a decade or so makes.
But in 2005, there was no Twitter.
