Sean Combs is Diddy no more: ‘I’m something different’
Don’t go changing, Sean Combs.
Oh, wait. Just go on ahead.
Combs — aka Puff Daddy, Diddy, P. Diddy, and for a hot second, Swag — wants to be referred to in a different way. The hip hop mogul announced his big news via Twitter on Saturday, one day before his 48th birthday.
I decided to change my name again!

“Hey yo. What’s up y’all. I have some very serious news,” said the 48-year-old in a video. “I’ve been praying on this and … I knew it was risky, ’cause it could come off as corny to some people, [but] I decided to change my name again … I’m just not who I am before. I’m something different. So my new name is Love a.k.a. Brother Love.”
This is not a drill, people.
“I will not be answering to Puffy, Diddy, Puff Daddy, or any of my other monikers but Love or Brother Love.”
So why is his Twitter handle still @Diddy?
In 2001, Combs, who was known as “Puff Daddy,” changed his name to “P. Diddy.” He told MTV why: “I’m not doing it as serious as Prince [but] I just want something fresh … I’m rockin’ with P. Diddy now — my man Biggie gave me that name.”
Who knows? Combs may go back to “Puffy” one day when he is a cranky old man. He first got that nickname because of his hot temper.
Meanwhile, the website brotherlove.com doesn’t seem to be taken, so Combs may want to get in on that.
