Screen gems: What’s ahead in movies and on TV for the week of April 12
Opening Friday
True Story (R): Jonah Hill stars as a disgraced journalist interviewing a murder suspect (James Franco) for the purpose of a book in this fact-based drama.
Child 44 (R): Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman and Noomi Rapace star in this adaptation of Tom Rob Smith’s best-selling novel about a series of child murders in 1950s Russia. Despite its impressive pedigree (Richard Price wrote the screenplay), the movie is not being screened in advance for critics. Be afraid.
Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 (PG-13): Anticipation is sky-high for this sequel to the hit comedy about the misadventures of the rotund mall cop (played by Kevin James). OK, not really. Just kidding.
