Too short to ride? Universal Orlando offers this for kids that don’t meet ride height requirements

Universal Orlando offers height certificates to children that don’t meet a ride’s height requirement. Once they are tall enough, they can return to the ride and enter the express line.

For a kid, going to an amusement park and transitioning from the designated kiddie rides to the “big kid” thrill attractions is a major step up. Regardless of age, however, this is a dream deferred for some kiddos who haven’t yet met a ride’s height requirement. While this unfortunate reality can be a source of shame for some, Universal Orlando Resort has a way to incentivize a child’s return to a ride when they get a bit taller.

In a TikTok posted by @blackowltravels, the mom showed her son trying to ride Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventures at Universal Orlando. Despite noting that the young boy has been eating “all the right things so he can grow,” he still isn’t tall enough to board the ride.

Instead of turning him away to ride another attraction, the attendant gave the child a height certificate.

“Universal has these height certificates, this one’s for Hagrid’s, because that’s the one Jack is trying to ride,” the mother explained. “When he gets tall enough, he gets to bring this back, and he gets escorted to the front of the line.”

Although this lesser-known tidbit of information may seem too good to be true, a spokesperson from Universal confirmed the height certificates to Travel + Leisure. Not only does the certificate allow the child to enter the express line when they are of adequate height, but their family (up to six people) is able to join them as well.

Travel + Leisure notes that height certificates are granted at select Universal Orlando rides. For a complete list of the park’s rides and height requirements, Undercover Tourist created a helpful and expansive guide.
