Winter just got a lot warmer, thanks to American Airlines.

On Wednesday, the airline announced they are increasing flights and seat capacity to create their largest winter schedule to destinations across the Caribbean and Latin America.

In the official press announcement, the airline stated they are increasing its seat capacity by ten percent, offering over 2,250 weekly flights across ninety regional destinations.

With the addition of the two new routes and expanded frequencies on 21 existing paths, American will solidify its position as the leading carrier flying nonstop between the United States and Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America.

José A. Freig, Vice President of Operations and Commercial for Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America, provided a statement about the airline’s excitement to “strengthen” its lead as the largest U.S. airline in the region.

“This coming winter we’re looking forward to adding more service to the destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean that our customers want to visit, including popular spots like Cancun, Montego Bay and Punta Cana, as well as our newest destination, Tortola.”

New Flight Routes

Beginning December 5, Charlotte (CLT) travelers will get expanded service and increased seat availability on ten routes to Belize City, Cancun, Curaçao, Liberia in Costa Rica, Los Cabos, Montego Bay, Puerto Plata and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, San Juan and St. Croix.

Nashville, Tennessee (BNA), and Cincinnati (CVG) will now have nonstop service to Cancun, Mexico (CUN) as of December 9.

The airline noted that service from BNA and CVG would operate on Saturdays through March.

These new direct flights to Cancun include an additional daily flight from Austin, Texas (AUS), starting November 5.

American also plans to increase service to seven popular destinations in Mexico from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), offering more than 50 daily departures from DFW to Mexico.

Miami (MIA) is currently the largest gateway between the U.S., Latin America, and the Caribbean. The airport will keep that title with the addition of daily departures this winter. American will be adding more than 140 daily departures to 70 destinations.
