The Nuggets are NBA champions and here are 5 Black-owned businesses to visit in Denver
On Monday night, the Denver Nuggets were crowned the 2023 NBA Champions. There will be much to celebrate if you’re in town and many places to visit. Earlier this year we featured Black businesses to celebrate in Denver during the NBA All-Star game. Today we feature five additional locations to visit.
TEALEE’S TEA HOUSE & BOOKSTORE
Located in Denver’s historic Five Points neighborhood,Tealee’s Tea House & Bookstore is a great midday stop for a drink and read. Enjoy an array of tea or tea-infused cocktails, including the Coming to America made with House infused Blue Butterfly Tea Vodka, lavender and Rosemary Syrup.
The Black American West Museum
This museum tells the stories of Black cowboys and other African Americans who helped build the western part of the United States. Housed in the former home of Dr. Justina L. Ford, first licensed African American female physician in the state of Colorado, the museum is now open for limited, scheduled slots.
Jamaican Jerk and BBQ Restaurant
All your Jamaican favorites are here, including braised oxtails, slow-cooked jerk chicken, and curried goat. Co-owner Elizabeth Thompson-Barrett has over 20 years of experience owning restaurants in Jamaica and you can tell from the deliciousness.
