The latest Africa itinerary from Seabourn requires 10 visas in advance (and possibly a new passport) for travelers. Scheduled to set sail on November 30, 2024, the voyage will spend three months making stops in 44 different ports across 26 different African countries.

According to AFAR, Seabourn president Natalya Leahy describes the cruise as “truly unique,” allowing passengers to see everything “from ruins and archaeological sites and tropical oasis to wildlife and deserts and bustling cities.”

The trip starts in Barcelona, Spain, where passengers will board the ship for their journey to Mallorca. A two-day stop in Tunisia and a single day in Malta follow.

After sailing across the Adriatic Sea, guests will visit Israel, Egypt, and Oman. The 115-island archipelago of Seychelles will be the first stop on the 450-passenger Seabourn Sojourn’s East African itinerary between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024. Other stops along the way include Kenya, Tanzania, Mayotte, Madagascar, and Mozambique.

From there, the group will spend over a week exploring South Africa, stopping in places like Durban and Cape Town, before spending three days in neighboring Namibia.

The ship will stop in Angola, Benin, Togo, Ghana, the Ivory Coast, Gambia, and Senegal as it travels north along the west coast of Africa. After that, it will divert to Cape Verde and the Canary Islands before returning to the continent for two more stops in Morocco and Algeria before arriving in Barcelona.

“We wanted to craft an itinerary that provided a balance of everything [Africa] has to offer—from animal encounters, tropical reefs, and anthropology to ancient ruins and culture exploration,” Leahy elaborates on the journey. “We worked hard to identify ports that would provide an array of in-depth African journeys. Additionally, we wanted to find ways to innovate and bring something new to the well-traveled guest, such as off-the-beaten-path experiences and culturally immersive opportunities while still stopping at fan-favorites for any first-time visitors to Africa.”

While Seabourn is still brainstorming potential shore excursions, Leahy has assured passengers that they can expect a wide selection, from half-day to multi-day tours (both public and private). The trip’s highlights include a safari in Kenya and Tanzania, a trip to the pyramids in Egypt, a snorkeling trip in the Seychelles, a cultural tour of Jerusalem, and a multiday trip to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.

The ship features a full-service beauty salon; a gym with treadmills, stationary bikes, and weight machines; and four different dining establishments.

The starting price per person is $39,999 and includes round-trip flights in business class, transfers to and from the airport, unlimited laundry and dry-cleaning services, all meals, all drinks, and some shore excursions.
