Amtrak starts running Harry Potter themed trains to Broadway show
Amtrak is the official rail transportation partner for Broadway’s production of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” and is creating a magical experience for all Potter enthusiasts.
Fans catching the show at the iconic Lyric Theatre in New York City can jump aboard four specially wrapped trains to live out all of their “Potterhead” dreams.
According to a release from Amtrak, the themed trains will run from the Northeast Corridor region to Washington, D.C., to Boston until June 25.
Passengers will enjoy eye-catching train wraps and novelty items that are all part of the entertainment of Harry Potter. The trains spare no detail in bringing the beloved story to life. The show’s iconic logo is emblazoned on the side of each train car along with Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy and the next generation of wizards: Albus Potter, Scorpius Malfoy and Rose Granger-Weasley. The train even features a swirling clock reminiscent of the film’s ‘Wesley clock’ that will give you illusions of time travel as you ride through the scenic NEC.
While the train won’t make a stop at Platform 9 ¾, deboarding at the New York theatre will excite even the biggest Harry Potter fan.
The Lyric Theatre has been transformed into a magical world of surprises.
Amtrak says the audience will experience a mind-blowing race through time, spectacular spells, and an epic battle, all brought to life with the most astonishing theatrical magic ever seen on stage.”
The fantasy voyage is part of the collaboration between Broadway’s official rewards program, Audience Rewards and Amtrak’s Guest Rewards.
Members of the programs can earn and redeem Amtrak Guest Rewards points on tickets to the show. The release states that it’s free for Amtrak Guest Rewards members to register with Audience Rewards.
Amtrak Guest Rewards program members enjoy exclusive benefits and an overall enhanced travel experience, both on and off the train. Reward points can be used towards reward travel, hotels, car rentals and more.
