With this low-cost semi-private jet membership, you’ll reconsider flying commercial
Semi-private jet companies, which transport customers in luxury without the stress (or astronomical cost) of owning a private jet, have become exceedingly well-known over the past ten years. In contrast to the majority of semi-private jet companies, Set Jet runs quite unconventionally.
Members can “charter” a jet to transport them from point A to point B whenever they need, or they can purchase a seat on another member’s flight. Getting acclimated to the system may take some time, so keep reading to learn more about Set Jet and how to get the most out of the service.
What to expect when flying Set Jet
Five Bombardier Challenger 850s make up Set Jet’s fleet of aircraft. There are no set departure or arrival times for these planes. Instead, they are available whenever a member requires them. Any two destinations within one’s membership plan can be booked via the Set Jet app, with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice for domestic destinations and a week’s notice for international trips.
Following that, other members can reserve seats on that flight up to 30 minutes prior to takeoff. According to Travel + Leisure, if those seats don’t get booked, you’ll really experience flying on a private jet. The two choices are distinguished by Set Jet as “booking a flight,” showing that you are the one who requested the flight, and “buying a seat,” indicating that you are boarding someone else’s flight.
Set Jet, like most private jet services, typically uses private terminals, so passengers can avoid the trouble of going through TSA checkpoints entirely. And if you’re a last-minute traveler, you can check in for your flight as late as 20 minutes before it takes off.

The price of a membership
Set Jet’s standard monthly membership fee is $99.95, and there is no contract required, so you can cancel at any time. A 12-month commitment is necessary to purchase an elite Set Jet membership, which costs $999.95 per month. The cost of a plane ticket is separate from the membership fee, as is the one-time $99.95 fee for a security check.
Flight costs, regulations, and additional information
Domestic one-way fares start at $750, while international ones to Cabo San Lucas start at $1,330. It’s important to keep in mind that even if you buy a ticket in advance, you won’t be guaranteed a specific seat on the plane. The seating arrangement is on a first come, first served basis.
Set Jet flights have a dress code that passengers must follow. Athleisure, cropped tops, flip-flops, short miniskirts, and collarless t-shirts, are a few examples of what is not permitted. The complete dress code is detailed in Set Jet’s FAQ section.
On Set Jet, only dogs, cats, and birds are allowed as pets. On a case-by-case basis, other animals will be taken into consideration. Pets under 20 pounds may be brought on board without charge; pets between 21 and 60 pounds and over 61 pounds must pay a $250 and $350 fee, respectively.
Bag allowance
Each passenger on a Set Jet flight is allowed one checked bag with a weight limit of 50 pounds and one carry-on bag with a weight limit of 20 pounds. If the passenger requests it ahead of time, it may be possible to bring additional bags on board. For domestic flights, the oversize/extra bag fee is $50, and for international flights, it’s $100.
