Due to increased demand, Megabus will offer three trips daily between Anaheim, Los Angeles, Bakersfield, Fresno, San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento. The “bargain bus” will ramp up services in anticipation of the busy summer travel season. Megabus announced its return to the Golden State in a press release on May 2.

Colin Emberson, VP of Commercial for Megabus, shared how “excited” the brand was to be back in California.

“Our customers have eagerly been awaiting our return and we’re happy to be able to provide a new network of travel options just in time for the summer rush,” Emberson said in a statement.

Megabus serviced California in 2010 until their routes were discontinued. The withdrawal of services began in 2008 when the company halted all routes in Los Angeles. This was just one year after they began routes to San Francisco and Las Vegas. The brand cited “low ridership trends” as a reason behind stopping services.

Megabus launched in 2006 and now has routes in more than 500 cities. The city-to-city express bus service prides itself on its customers’ safety while offering convenient, cost-effective and eco-friendly service.

The announcement of Megabus’s revival indicated that the new routes will begin running on May 15. Megabus stated the new routes will offer three trips daily between Anaheim, Los Angeles, Bakersfield, Fresno, San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento. According to Megabus’ website, a one-way ticket for one person from Sacramento to Los Angeles is available for $69.99.
