Even if “set jetting” is all the rage right now, movie buffs have been taking trips to The Oasis At Death Valley in search of filming locations for “Star Wars” since the film’s release in 1977. These visits bring to mind the fascinating stories of when director George Lucas chose this bona-fide American Oasis, nestled in 3.4 million square miles of desert, oasis and mountain national park, to film and transport viewers to a “galaxy far, far away.”

Death Valley National Park boasts a number of staggering and picturesque locations such as Dante’s View, Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, Desolations Canyon, Artist’s Drive, and Golden Canyon. The best part is that all of these locations are just a quick 20-to-40-minute drive from the Resort, which happens to be the only resort in Death Valley National Park.

The nearest town or pretty much anything is at least an hour-drive away at a high-speed limit and no traffic lights, while Las Vegas can be reached in just two hours via the desert. Los Angeles is more than four hours away.

One of the few gold-tier recognized International Dark Sky Parks in the United States where stargazers can view the Milky Way with their own eyes, this is the place to go if you want to explore the cosmos.

The Oasis in Death Valley has hyper-spaced a special map for visitors directing them to the filming spots that are easily reachable by car in honor of the epic narrative and Hollywood franchise.

While tourists may perceive Death Valley to be another world, insiders have discovered an “oasis-like planet” that is the opulent AAA Four-Diamond resort. The recent $150 million rebirth at the Oasis at Death Valley included both the family friendly The Ranch at Death Valley and The Inn at Death Valley.

There is practically never any cloud cover in Death Valley, and bugs are rare. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the Oasis has a wide range of amenities, including a number of swimming pools, gardens, golf, tennis, horseback riding, various dining options, a general shop, a post office, a grove of date palms, and plenty of lush greenery where guests can run, play, or simply relax and enjoy the pleasant daytime and nighttime views. There’s a resort, a hotel, some secluded casitas, and about eighty brand-new cottages.
