Dallas Mavericks’ Reggie Bullock drops 2 Mil on his own private island in Belize
Reggie Bullock, a star player for the Dallas Mavericks, has accomplished a feat that most athletes can only dream of. After spending a cool $2 million, he bought an island in Belize and had it named in his honor.
The five-acre piece of land is appropriately named “Bullock Island,” and Sports Illustrated reports that it will soon be home to a resort where he and his loved ones can spend their vacations. Reportedly buying the island a year ago, the news of Bullock’s self-named island has only recently gone viral.
Bullock explained to Andscape’s Marc Spears that he viewed the purchase as an investment. “I’ve been looking for different things to invest my money in,” Bullock said. “I found an opportunity down in Belize where I purchased an island that was about five acres that I am going to put resort villas on. It’s a vacation spot for me and my family where other people will be able to attend and enjoy different vacation activities.”
Bullock intends to construct an eight-villa rental property in addition to a 4,000 square foot residence for himself. A restaurant, a spa, and other facilities are also on his construction agenda.
The 32 yr-old athlete attributes the inspiration for the idea to his former New York Knicks colleague Dennis Smith Jr, notes Black Enterprise. He had talked to him throughout the 2019–20 season about being able to buy islands, and after doing some research, he decided to send his mother, girlfriend, and two siblings to check out the island first. The stunning location was listed for $2 million, and it is now Bullock Island.
“The water is beautiful,” Bullock remarked. “That was one of the first things that I noticed. A lot of people are from Cali [California] and Texas. A lot of doctors and a lot of people going into retirement purchase homes for about $300,000 to $400,000 around the water. The people are dope. The food is dope. If you’re down to fish, they have really good grouper.”
Bullock made the announcement that he now owns an island in Placencia, Belize, via social media, and the caption sounds as amazing as the island looks.
