Iconic Miami rapper Trina reminded everyone why she’s the “baddest chick” with her recent NPR Tiny Desk Concert.

The 44-year-old artist performed some of her biggest hits from her career, which spans over 25 years. She began her set with a tribute to her mother, whom she lost in 2019 from cancer. She then transitioned into her first single, “Da Baddest B***h* the title track from her 2000 debut album of the same name.

Aside from being one of the most consistent female rappers in the music industry, Trina has been a pioneer for artists out of her native, Miami, Florida. Miami is home to several artists across multiple genres of music. Rap’s newest superstars, The City Girls, Trina’s label mate, Trick Daddy, rapper/producer DJ Khaled, Reggaeton megastar Pitbull and rapper/mogul Rick Ross all call the “305” home.

Miami is a melting pot. Influences from African, Caribbean, and Latin cultures, among others, can be found in the food, music, art and so much more. Although hearing Trina with a full band and background singers was something we didn’t know we needed, it gave us the urge to head to Miami. While roaming around Broward County, here are some businesses to check out. Hopefully, they are blasting Trina over the speakers.
