‘The toughest act to follow’s back on tour:’ Drake announces tour with 21 Savage
Rapper Drake announced his upcoming 2023 tour with fellow rapper and collaborator 21 Savage on Monday. The “It’s All a Blur” tour is presented by Cash App, Visa and Sprite, and is produced by Live Nation.
The tour has 29 stops, starting on June 16 in New Orleans at the Smoothie King Center and ending on September 5 in Glendale at the Desert Diamond Arena. The 6 God and 21 will be hitting up major cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit and Brooklyn. The rapper’s hometown of Toronto was noticeably absent from the list of tour dates, but Variety reports that additional shows, including ones in Toronto, will be announced at a later date.
The tour is Drake’s first in five years. In 2018, he hit the road with rap trio, Migos, on the Aubrey & the Three Migos Tour. Despite not touring, the Toronto-native has remained busy by releasing four albums in the last five years: “Scorpion” in 2018, “Certified Lover Boy” in 2021, “Honestly, Nevermind” in June 2022 and “Her Loss” in November 2022. The latter was a collaborative album with 21 Savage. Considering Drake’s recent discography and career as a whole, the concept behind the tour is fitting. According to the tour announcement, the tour’s title is said to be “a celebration of the last decade.”
