A new rail operator is launching in the spring, and they’ve just announced another route across Europe—making train travel across the continent even more of a vision.

In addition to their planned May service launch between Berlin and Brussels, European Sleeper has also announced an additional collaboration with the European Union to provide service between Amsterdam and Barcelona.

The “Goodnight Train” from European Sleeper, whose expressed goal is to create “a friendlier and smarter way to travel inside Europe,” will begin operations on May 25. The train is set to run from Berlin to Brussels via Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and other towns. The cities of Dresden and Prague will be added to the route in 2024.

Tickets for the inaugural trip, as well as those for future summer trips, went on sale starting February 20, reports Travel + Leisure. Take your pick from the sleeping car, seat, or “couchette” on the train. When compared to the starting price of €159 for a single sleeping compartment, the starting price of €49 for a single seat in a shared six-person compartment is a significant saving.

However, according to industry reports, European Sleeper “experienced setbacks in securing financing for rolling stock and the availability thereof” after previously announcing that their service would begin in 2022.

With the schedule announced, ticket sales beginning and a debut date set, passengers on “The Goodnight Train” may soon be able to relax and comfortably settle in for the evening while heading to their next exciting vacation.

Train travel in Europe has always been a convenient way to see a lot of the continent in a short amount of time and it looks like it will increase in the future. According to a government report from December 2021, the European Union plans to increase high-speed rail traffic by a factor of two by 2030 and by a factor of three by 2050.
