The first “NBA Courtside Restaurant,” a high-end, sports-themed eatery honoring the league, will open in spring 2023 in downtown Toronto, the NBA announced on Thursday.

An ultramodern food and beverage program, an exclusive retail area, an outdoor patio, a private dining room, and other amenities will all be part of the 10,000-square-foot venue dedicated to honoring the National Basketball Association.

Through artwork and décor inspired by the NBA and its influence on popular culture, the restaurant will highlight the various stages of an NBA player’s voyage from dreamer to champion. Artwork by KWEST, Victor Solomon, and others will be showcased in the dining rooms. The restaurant will display a series of NBA Top Shot Moments, showcasing the best plays from the current NBA season, for diners to enjoy, points out Sporting News.

Urban Dining Group, based in Toronto and serving the Greater Toronto Area since 1989, will run the NBA Courtside Restaurant. Erica Karbelnik, a Toronto-based chef who has won both Season 9 of Top Chef Canada and Season 3 of Chopped Canada, will be the NBA Courtside Restaurant’s Culinary Ambassador and be responsible for creating a menu that draws inspiration from around the world.

“It’s an honour to be a part of something in our city that is so special. Toronto loves the game. It’s part of our culture, and to showcase that in such a creative way is truly amazing,” Chef Karbelnik said. “From the artwork and wine to the food, this is a Toronto gem that will continue our love and passion for basketball. I am lucky to be a part of the NBA Courtside Restaurant and am excited to see what the future holds with the NBA.”

According to Sportsnet, a specially curated selection of official NBA and exclusive NBA Courtside Restaurant apparel and merchandise from 47 Brand, New Era, Mitchell & Ness, and Wilson will be available in the venue’s retail area, along with several prints and other items that feature original illustrations by Dupuis.
