Foodies and gourmands, rejoice: Miami Spice is a month of superb dining at specialty prices
For some, food is fuel; for others, it is an all consuming experience. Those who enjoy exploring the world through their dining destinations can take a circumnavigational shortcut by heading to South Beach this month for Miami Spice, a month of experimentation and culinary prowess designed to incubate the local food scene. Participating restaurants will set fixed price menus, $28 for lunch, and optional price points at $45 and $60 for dinner, allowing all eaters to access high end dining curated for a global audience. With a variety of options for every diner, aspiring gourmands should be able to find their fare no matter the category.
Black-owned : Red Rooster Overtown
In Miami’s historic Black Overtown district, world-renowned award-winning chef, Marcus Samuelsson, who is an Ethiopian-born Swedish-American, serves up local classics with a twist like chicharron deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes with lemon pepper jelly and trout roe and fried chicken with sour orange spicy honey. The restaurant is on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list, which designates quality food at an extremely high value.
Vegan: Full Bloom
Miami is a worldwide hub for vegan cuisine, exciting plant-based offerings will be available on a variety of menus, most notably Full Bloom. The bistro was voted best U.S. vegan restaurant by Trip Advisor in 2021. Its Spice Month menu offerings reflect the global palate that marks the restaurant’s offerings with Italian dishes, curries, Jewish deli classics and Chinese fare.
Top-Rated: Cote Miami
Only one restaurant on the Miami Spice roster has been awarded a Michelin Star. The Korean steakhouse Cote Miami boasts smokeless tableside grills that create an elevated dining experience for those indulging in their signature USDA prime and Waygu beef, aged in an in-house drying room. Their Miami Spice lunch menu includes Waldorf salad, steak tartare, fried chicken and two of their steak selections.
