Diamonds on the Green are making golf more accessible for diverse players
One Texas group is taking a swing at the exclusionary legacy of traditional golf clubs. Bringing a new association to the sport, amateur golf club Diamonds on the Green is focused on creating mentorship, community and opportunities both for their own Black, female membership and through a range of public service activities. The club partners with organizations supporting multiple sclerosis, lupus, mental health, domestic violence survivors, Black scholarship programs and more.
Beginning in 2018 as an effort to help Black students access scholarship opportunities and build important career networks, Diamonds on the Green builds skills on the course through training and workshops in order to make the game accessible to new players, and off the course, they host financial literacy, professional presentation workshops, happy hours and more.
