Preparing for the PMP exam can feel like trying to climb a mountain in flip-flops and board shorts. You might feel unprepared, out of place, and desperately trying to scrabble up a 5-foot rock.

Okay, maybe not the last one, but you get it.

As a prep course expert who’s passed the CPA exams, I can tell you that PMP prep courses are the shortcut from flip flops to mountaineering boots. PM PrepCast is one such option, but no prep course is “one size fits all.”

My goal is to help you decide whether PM PrepCast is the right fit for your PMP studies. I’ve studied PrepCast’s written materials, video lessons, and practice questions to give you an idea of what it’s like before you seal the deal with your credit card.

Is PM PrepCast The Best Pick for You?

  • If you’re a visual learner, PM PrepCast’s engaging video lectures and animated diagrams will help you master complex topics more easily.
  • If you like to study on the go, the ability to download course materials to your phone or tablet makes PM PrepCast a great mobile-friendly option.
  • If you value realism in your prep, the full-length mock exams and detailed answer explanations in PM PrepCast’s simulator will be a major plus.
  • If you’re looking for a flexible, self-paced format, PM PrepCast delivers with 35+ hours of on-demand lessons you can work through anytime.
  • If you prefer a structured, instructor-led classroom environment, PM PrepCast’s lack of live classes may not meet your needs.
  • If you often need support in the evenings or on weekends, the limited availability of PM PrepCast’s email-based help desk could be a drawback.

You might’ve noticed there isn’t a pass guarantee. So, how do you know the materials work? Well, you could take my expert advice, but I’m not a PMP, and I’m far from my study days.

So, let’s take a look at the reviews:

A company flexing over great reviews on their website really isn’t that impressive. After all, companies can curate their pages to only show off the positive reviews, hiding the 1-star ratings. Trustpilot, Google Reviews, and Facebook are unique in that they’re 100% authentic; companies have next to zero authority when it comes to deciding what shows up and what doesn’t.

➡️ That’s why these reviews are so impressive: students wholeheartedly and transparently love PM PrepCast. But are you their next happy customer, or is your money better spent elsewhere? Let’s dig into the features.

Pros

  • Covers all PMP exam topics in line with the PMBOK Guide.
  • Engaging video lessons with helpful visuals and clear delivery.
  • Flexible exam simulator with detailed answer explanations.
  • Mobile-friendly—download lessons and study anywhere.
  • Affordable pricing compared to many other PMP prep options.

Cons

  • No live classes or real-time instructor interaction.
  • Support is responsive but limited to weekdays and evenings.
  • Some lessons can feel long-winded or overly dense.

PM PrepCast’s Course Details

My PM PrepCast review included a deep dive into the modules, lessons, video tutorials, exam simulators, and other PMP prep tools you need to take the real PMP exam. Let’s take a look at what’s inside the course.

Course Content and Structure

PM PrepCast has everything you’d expect in a PMP training course: an on-demand online course with 35+ hours of video lessons, 2,000+ practice questions modeled after those on the actual exam, mock exams, and the certificate proving you’ve completed the necessary education to apply for your certification.

They shine in their PMP PrepCast Exam Simulator, which features up to four full-length mock tests. The real value here isn’t necessarily in the tech and progress tracking, but the detailed explanations for both correct and incorrect answers. That being said, the tech itself is excellent: efficient, quick to load, easy to use, and offers a wealth of filtering options.

You can choose the number of questions you’d like to work through, the topic domain(s) you want to cover, whether you’d like to answer new questions or questions you previously answered incorrectly, and even whether you’d like it to be timed. I found the personalization of the experience incredibly helpful as someone who didn’t want to take a 100-question mock test, instead working through 10 questions at a time, keeping my focus alive.

One reviewer shared their experience with the practice questions:

“I’m using it, and two colleagues passed the PMP solely using Prepcast. It is an amazing tool. I use it as a learning tool because the details on why the choices are right or wrong are super detailed.”

Video Lessons

Project management isn’t always the world’s most fascinating subject, but you wouldn’t know it by listening to the company’s founder, Cornelius Fichtner, PMP. He is such a character and a delight to listen to: animated, engaging, and a voice that really draws you in. I’ll be honest, I’m not always the best at understanding what people are saying, even without an accent—so at first, I was a little worried when I heard that Swiss inflection! But it’s actually really enjoyable and easy to understand. In fact, the novelty almost makes it more fun to listen to.

But there’s more to these videos than the speaker alone. There are a plethora of graphs, animated diagrams, and slides with the perfect amount of text for note-taking. If videos are key to your learning process, the 35+ hours available in PM PrepCast will fly by.

Access, Guarantees, and Value

At just a few hundred dollars for a year’s access to course materials (though just 90 days to the PMP exam simulator), PM PrepCast offers a lot of value for a relatively small investment compared to prep courses in adjacent industries.

One of my favorite aspects of PM PrepCast that shows off their value is their 30-day money-back guarantee, where, if you’re dissatisfied with the course for any reason, you can get a full, no-questions-asked refund. However, while terms and conditions apply, they’re relatively lenient: just don’t start or finish both a quiz and an exam (one or the other is fine), or the same quiz or exam more than once.

Student Support

While PM PrepCast doesn’t offer any live classes or tutoring options, they do offer the standard support ticket and email channels. Plus, from my experience, their support team is pretty darn fast. I messaged them two questions through the support ticket and three through email at different times. If I messaged later than 8 PM, they answered right away in the morning, around 8 AM. However, just to test, I sent a few messages around 6 and 7 PM and got responses in less than an hour. I was impressed.

You’re not getting the most comprehensive support, which may not be ideal for most students. However, if you need the occasional, basic question answered, PM PrepCast’s support is one of the fastest I’ve tried.

Bottom Line

PM PrepCast delivers impressive value for the price, especially if you prefer flexible, self-paced study with a strong video library and customizable practice tools. The exam simulator stands out with detailed explanations and smart filtering options.

However, the lack of live instruction and limited support hours may not suit those who need real-time help or accountability. If you’re a motivated, independent learner, PM PrepCast is a smart, budget-friendly choice for PMP prep.
