If you’re considering AnalystPrep FRM® for your exam preparation, you’re in the right place. Because honestly, as someone who passed the CPA exams, I know how crucial choosing the right course is. Plus, with a $90k to $130k salary range on average, investing strategically now can lead to an increased ROI down the line—because what you learn now can move the needle for your future career.

I spent countless hours with AnalystPrep FRM® Review, studying everything from policies and guarantees to virtual lectures to practice materials.

Though I’m a professional course reviewer, not an FRM® candidate, I engaged with the resources from a student’s perspective, going undercover to help you understand not just what’s in AnalystPrep, but why it matters. By the time you click out of this tab, you’ll know whether AnalystPrep is worth purchasing or passing by.

Should You Study With AnalystPrep?

  • If you’re on a budget but still want a full-featured FRM® prep package, AnalystPrep gives you the most bang for your buck.
  • If you learn best through engaging lectures and clear visuals, Professor Forjan’s video lessons make AnalystPrep hard to beat.
  • If unlimited practice and lifetime access matter more than fancy guarantees, AnalystPrep delivers on both.
  • If flexibility and affordability top your list, AnalystPrep is the obvious choice.
  • If you prefer shorter, more structured lessons with a money-back promise, Kaplan Schweser may be a better fit.
  • If you want an ultra-challenging question bank and a strong student forum, Bionic Turtle might suit you more than AnalystPrep.

AnalystPrep FRM®: Video Lessons and Value

AnalystPrep

I wanted to introduce AnalystPrep by outlining their most notable features: you guessed it, video lessons and value. Spend any time researching AnalystPrep, and one of the first things that will pop up is their lead instructor, Professor James Forjan.

And yes, he’s an actual professor; he’s taught at six different universities and has a PhD in finance. Plus, to say he’s beloved is an understatement—students rate him 4.4 of 5 stars on average.

One Redditor explains:
“I’m sticking to just the CFAI curriculum, and I’ve gotta say, his videos are a lifesaver. The lectures are super sharp and straight to the point, but what I really love are the little jokes and humor he throws in. I know this might sound weird, but I kinda feel like I’m listening to my uncle or granddad—like, he just gets me and makes me feel validated while I’m grinding through this stuff.”

Imagine having a guy like that walk you through your video lessons (obviously, I did, and I’m excited to share my experience with you).

Further, AnalystPrep is easily one of the most affordable FRM® prep options out there. In fact, a single part’s package from top competitors like Kaplan Schweser and Bionic Turtle can cost more than AnalystPrep’s Unlimited Package, which includes both parts and lifetime access. While I can certainly see the benefit in spending more to get more, AnalystPrep gives you a lot in this package without being overwhelming.

All that said, let’s move a few rungs down the ladder to figure out the details you need to be aware of before making a purchase.

Pros

  • High Value and Affordability: Particularly regarding the Ultimate Package, there’s more value and affordability here than in most other courses I’ve tested, for the FRM® or otherwise.
  • Easy-Listening Video Lessons: AnalystPrep’s video lessons are some of the best and most engaging, made even better by lead instructor James Forjan.
  • Digital and Printable: Like no other competitor, AnalystPrep emphasizes both digital and printable mock exams, practice questions, and study notes, catering to traditional and modern learners.
  • Fast, Thorough Support: AnalystPrep has some of the fastest customer service I’ve experienced from a prep course company, and yes, they were actually helpful!
  • Lifetime Access: Though it’s only available in the Unlimited Package, students can stress less about deadlines and have reference materials after they pass their exam.

Cons

  • No Guarantee to Pass: Unlike Kaplan Schweser, AnalystPrep doesn’t include a formal pass guarantee with any of their FRM® prep packages.
  • Your Purchase is Final: AnalystPrep doesn’t offer refunds; once you buy the course, you’re stuck with it, so you have to make sure it’s the right fit before investing.

AnalystPrep FRM® Packages to Choose From

WordPress Data Table Plugin

FRM® Unlimited Package (FRM® Parts 1 and 2)

The Unlimited Package is my #1 recommendation for several reasons, primarily because you really can’t beat the value. Rather than grabbing one part at a time, you get both parts, PLUS unlimited lifetime access to AnalystPrep’s study materials, PLUS unlimited ask-a-tutor questions.

Best For: Students with busy schedules on a budget who don’t want to worry about whether they have enough time or resources to succeed on test day

FRM® Learn & Practice Package (Part 1 or 2)

If you want to start by dipping your toes into AnalystPrep’s study materials, this package or the Practice Package each includes materials for one part, rather than bundling two together. The “Learning” part of this bundle that the Practice Package lacks consists of 93+ hours of video content and extensive virtual or printable study notes.

Best For: Students who prefer to take it one exam at a time, but need the audiovisual quality of videos and in-depth study notes to do their best prep

FRM® Practice Package (Part 1 or 2)

This is the foundation of all the higher-tier offers, including the basic materials every student needs to pass, such as 4,000+ practice questions, CBT mock exams, a progress-tracking dashboard with adaptive learning technology, formula sheets, and even five tutoring questions.

Best For: FRM candidates who pass tough exams with ease using a DIY structure, and don’t need much time or materials to prepare

Dashboard and Interface

AnalystPrep FRM® DASHBOARD

AnalystPrep’s interface is clean and visually-driven. For me, I loved that as soon as I logged in, I could have a barometer of my progress and performance, as well as opportunities for more study sessions. Navigation is really simple, since everything you need is tidily stacked in a sidebar on the left side of the screen.

Ad although you only see the names when you hover over the icons for each section, I enjoyed that they used illustrations for a more contemporary appeal. Everything loaded within ~2 seconds (if not even quicker), and I never had to struggle to figure out where I was supposed to go to find what I was looking for.

Practice Questions and Mock Exams

Naturally, I’ve never taken the FRM exam. However, in consulting with my colleagues who have and, let’s be real, interrogating them about their opinions on AnalystPrep’s questions, they agreed that the questions are exam-quality. Further, the answer explanations are excellent.

You’re not just getting a quick, one-sentence, “You’re wrong because the right answer was A.” To be clear, yes, that is an actual answer explanation I’ve seen in the past! AnalystPrep takes learning from your mistakes seriously, giving in-depth descriptions of the right and wrong answers, along with tips to remember the best choice on your next attempt.

AnalystPrep FRM® QUIZ

The mock exams were excellent as well, with three unique options for each part of the exam (for a total of six). Being able to print them is ideal if you’re more of a kinesthetic learner, and it’s a feature that’s rare for any prep provider.

However, my favorite tool to quickly gauge my understanding was the quizzes, which I could customize by part, topic, unseen questions, incorrectly answered questions, and the choice of 10, 20, 35, 50, or 100 questions per quiz, all of which can be toggled and changed at any time.

“Passed Part I and used AnalystPrep a bunch. Their quizzes are very helpful, the practice exams I found slightly easier than the official GARP practice exams. Still I find it pretty helpful to be able to generate 20 questions on one topic at a time.”

On-Demand Video Lectures

AnalystPrep FRM® videos

I’ve talked about this already, but the video lessons are easily one of the stand-out selling points of AnalystPrep’s FRM® review courses. They’re clear, concise, and easy to follow, and Professor Forjan’s real-world examples and the colorful slides jam-packed with visual aids made them equally helpful and engaging. I can be a pretty big visual learner at times, so the graphs and colors made it so much easier for me to remember complex concepts as I was practicing through the quizzes.

AnalystPrep on-demand videos

I do have one gripe, and while I do think these videos are truly stellar, I’d be remiss not to mention this. A lot of prep courses break videos down into very small chunks, typically in the 10-20 minute range. However, these videos average around an hour long. To be clear, that isn’t bad (I’ve seen 3-hour-long lectures in this space), but I’d personally prefer something a little shorter with a handful of questions to reinforce each lesson afterward.

Guarantees and Policies

I’ll be transparent with you: here’s where I think AnalystPrep doesn’t shine nearly as brightly as they do with all of their outstanding materials. My biggest issue is that AnalystPrep doesn’t offer refunds, and there’s no real trial period once you’ve bought your package. To a lesser extent, it’s worth considering that AnalystPrep doesn’t offer a pass guarantee. However, the providers who do include pass guarantees for the FRM tend to offer extended access, anyway. So, assuming you buy the Ultimate Package and get lifetime access, an extension wouldn’t mean anything, anyway.

Overall Value: Is AnalystPrep Worth It?

This is a tricky question because people and their budgets, study styles, and material needs can vary wildly. However, I do think AnalystPrep is worth it for many students. For their resources to be as engaging and accurate to the actual exam as they are is an impressive fact on its own, but becomes even more impressive considering the price.

Remember, you can get a package for a single part from other competitors for a higher price than that of AnalystPrep’s two-part bundle. Further, it’s difficult to put a price on things like unlimited tutoring questions and lifetime access, which add significant value on top of everything I’ve already mentioned.

To answer the question? Yes. I sincerely believe AnalystPrep is not only worth it, but one of the top choices available to gain exam readiness in earning your Financial Risk Manager certification.

AnalystPrep vs. Competing FRM® Prep Providers

See how AnalystPrep compares to Kaplan Schweser and Bionic Turtle below or in more detail in this FRM® prep course comparison.

AnalystPrep vs. Kaplan Schweser

Kaplan Schweser is the most established name in FRM® prep, and that experience shows in their course structure. When I tested their platform, the materials felt polished, with a clear roadmap and extensive practice questions tied directly to the exam outline. The SchweserNotes are especially popular—dense but organized in a way that gives you everything you need without searching around. Kaplan also includes a pass guarantee, which adds a layer of reassurance that AnalystPrep doesn’t offer.

AnalystPrep, by comparison, felt leaner but more approachable. Their video lessons with Professor James Forjan made even complex topics feel digestible, and the platform struck me as modern and student-friendly. What impressed me most was the affordability—AnalystPrep’s Unlimited Package costs less than some of Kaplan’s single-part packages, yet you still get lifetime access and unlimited tutor questions. While Kaplan Schweser is the safer pick for structure and legacy, AnalystPrep delivers more flexibility and value for the money.

Choose Kaplan Schweser if you want a time-tested, structured program with a pass guarantee and extensive study notes.

Pick AnalystPrep if you want a modern, affordable option with standout video lessons and lifetime access.

AnalystPrep vs. Bionic Turtle

Bionic Turtle has built its reputation on practice questions and community support. In my testing, their forum stood out as a unique advantage—you can interact with instructors and other students to hash out tough FRM® topics in detail. The practice questions are thorough, and the sheer volume of discussion threads means you’ll rarely feel stuck on your own. However, their platform is less polished and leans heavily on text-based study, which won’t work for everyone.

AnalystPrep takes a different angle by emphasizing multimedia. I found their video lessons and printable mock exams more engaging than Bionic Turtle’s text-heavy approach. AnalystPrep’s dashboard also gave me clear analytics on progress, which Bionic Turtle doesn’t emphasize as much. That said, Bionic Turtle offers some of the trickiest questions I encountered, which can be a strong advantage if you want to stress-test your knowledge before exam day.

Choose Bionic Turtle if you want a deep bank of tough practice questions and a strong community forum for peer support.

Pick AnalystPrep if you want a visually engaging platform with flexible packages, lifetime access, and affordable pricing.

Bottom Line: Is AnalystPrep Right For You?

Ultimately, AnalystPrep is a smart investment for most aspiring financial risk management professionals. You’ll unlock invaluable video lessons (that won’t have you snoring in minutes), thousands of exam-quality practice questions, printable materials, and potentially, lifetime access and unlimited tutoring support. While there are no refunds and no pass guarantee, AnalystPrep is one of my favorite prep courses on the market, and I highly recommend their courses for the average student.
