Led by safety Harvey Clayton, who signed with Illinois on Wednesday, Coral Reef sent three football players off to college on scholarship.

Offensive lineman Brian Castro signed with Benedictine College and kicker Nicholas Jacquemin went with Mississippi Valley State.

Clayton didn’t know where he was signing until Monday night when he announced an oral commitment to the Illini. A former Louisville commit, he visited the Illinois campus over the weekend and knew he wanted to be back.

“It was mostly the environment, how everyone took me in as I was their own and made me feel at home,” Clayton said.

Other football seniors, including linebacker Randy Shannon Jr., are expected to explore more options in the ensuing month.
