Coral Gables’ Amir Rasul (FSU), Shakur Cooper (FIU) make picks on National Signing Day
Running back Amir Rasul committed to Florida State University on Wednesday afternoon at Coral Gables High School. Rasul, the No. 7-ranked running back in the nation by ESPN, picked FSU over the University of North Carolina.
“Florida Sate is the best decision for me,” Rasul said. “In this game, it’s a business. You’ve got to make a business decision, not for four years, but for 40 years.”
Linebacker Shakur Cooper also stayed in-state and will attend Florida International University.
“FIU is just a perfect fit for me because it’s not far away from home,” Cooper said. “I was talking to Frank Gore, my cousin, and he believes in home talent staying home, so that’s why I decided.”
Quarterback Voshon Waiters did not sign Wednesday. His offer to FAMU was pulled last week. According to coaches, Waiters is now considering going to ASA Miami.
Linebacker Robert Brown will attend Bryant University (Rhode Island). Wide receiver Jaylin Clark-McNatte will attend Ellsworth Community College (Iowa). Linebacker Stanley Gee will attend Coffeyville Community College (Kansas).
