Cowboys QB Dak Prescott Gets New Wide Receiver After George Pickens News

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys had a disappointing 2025 NFL season, finishing with a 7-9-1 record and missing out on the playoffs once again. But the Cowboys will be looking to turn things around in the upcoming 2026 season, beginning with their Week 1 matchup against the New York Giants on "Sunday Night Football."

While the Dallas defense struggled throughout the 2025 season, their offense was arguably the best in the NFL. George Pickens played a key role in that success, recording 93 catches for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns. However, the Cowboys opted to place the wide receiver on the franchise tag instead of signing him to a long-term extension, which raised concerns after Pickens skipped voluntary OTAs.

Still, the former Steelers star reported for the first day of mandatory minicamp, but that did not stop Dallas from adding another wide receiver to its roster.

Denzel Mims, following a college career at Baylor, was selected by the New York Jets with the No. 59 pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons in New York, recording 42 catches for 676 yards and no touchdowns across 30 games. However, since 2023, Mims has bounced around the league, mostly spending time on practice squads with the Detroit Lions, Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Mims most recently spent time in the UFL, playing with the St. Louis Battlehawks (2025) and the Dallas Renegades (2026). In 11 total UFL games, he tallied 11 catches for 106 yards. But the Cowboys have elected to give Mims another chance in the NFL, signing the wideout ahead of training camp and potentially giving Prescott another pass catcher.

Along with Mims, Dallas also signed offensive lineman Chris Glaser and defensive back Ameer Speed, while waiving defensive back Coroey Ballentine and wide receiver Romello Brinson.

"The @dallascowboys signed OL Chris Glaser, WR Denzel Mims and DB Ameer Speed on Thursday," Dallas Cowboys PR wrote on X. "The club also made the following transactions. Waived: DB Corey Ballentine, WR Romello Brinson. Reserve/Injured: C Matt Hennessy"

Prescott and the Cowboys have now begun preparing for the 2026 NFL season, with training camp set to begin in late July.
