Josh Hart Revealed Knicks Mindset After Facing 29-Point Deficit
Despite facing a 29-point deficit during Game 4 of the NBA Finals, New York Knicks guard Josh Hart made it clear he never thought his team was out of the race.
“The game is not over at halftime, you know, and you just want to continue to chip,” he said. “You don’t look at when you’re down 29, we’ve got to whip this game. You look at it when you’re down 29 of OK, let’s get it to 20. There’s three minutes left in the third quarter. We’re down 18, you’re thinking, let’s get it to 10.”
Eventually, the Knicks were able to escape with a 107-106 while making NBA history for the largest comeback in the NBA finals after OG Anunoby tipped home a missed 3-point attempt from Knicks star point guard Jalen Brunson.

Speaking of Brunson, he sang a familiar refrain to Hart’s after leading the team with 36 points in the historic comeback.
“Really wasn’t that much to be said at that point,” Brunson said. “It was really just we need to chip away. We need to hit singles, get on base and make plays from there.”
New York’s 29-point comeback eclipsed the previous record set by the Boston Celtics who rallied from down 24 against the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4 of the 2008 Finals. Boston went on to win the series in six games and the Knicks hope to have a similar ending as the team looks to win its first NBA title since 1973.
