Colts Encouraged to Trade Player Who Has an ‘Uphill Battle'
The Indianapolis Colts have work to do following their 8-9 season, but they have new energy with Daniel Jones at quarterback. As for the other players on the field, one could make for a decent trade before the new season starts.
Moe Moton of Bleacher Report has released a piece where he names one blockbuster trade each franchise should make before the 2026 season starts. “We could get more transactional fireworks this summer, or at least see moves that we expected teams to make, like the Brown deal, before final roster cuts on August 30,” he notes.

For the Colts, he digs the idea of the team trading cornerback Jaylon Jones. What makes this trade even more possible is that, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Colts and Richardson have “mutually agreed to explore a trade.”
“After a solid showing in 2024, logging 12 pass breakups and two interceptions while allowing an 86 passer rating in coverage through 17 starts, he’s fallen on the depth chart,” Moton notes.
He adds that “Jones has an uphill battle for meaningful regular-season snaps, though teams may see untapped potential from his one-year stint as a full-time starter.”

It’s the case that the Colts have plenty of starting power. They inked Charvarius Ward and Sauce Gardner for the 2026 season, plus made other moves, such as signing Cam Taylor-Britt. Jones would be better utilized on a team with more potential to use him off the bench, and plenty of teams will likely be interested in a trade for the right deal.
