Patrick Mahomes Reacts to Russell Wilson's Retirement Announcement
After 14 seasons in the NFL with four different teams, Russell Wilson officially announced his retirement on Wednesday.
Along with the announcement, it was revealed that Wilson will be joining CBS’ NFL coverage team on Sundays, replacing Matt Ryan, who left the network after accepting a position in the Atlanta Falcons’ front office following last season.
Wilson spent the majority of his career - and enjoyed his greatest success - with the Seattle Seahawks. During his 10 seasons in Seattle, he earned nine Pro Bowl selections and helped lead the franchise to its first Super Bowl championship in 2014.
“Thank You, Football,” Wilson wrote on Instagram. “Love, #3.”

Many around the NFL reacted to the news with heartfelt messages for Russell Wilson, including Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
“Congrats on a helluva career, man!” Mahomes commented on Wilson’s post.
Wilson later responded, writing, “Thanks, 15. Love that we got to share the field together! Keep being an inspiration to the kids!”
Over the course of his career, Wilson compiled a 121-80-1 record as a starting quarterback, completing 64.6% of his passes for nearly 47,000 yards and 353 touchdowns.
There was speculation this offseason that Wilson had an opportunity to continue his playing career with the New York Jets. Had he accepted, the Jets would have become his fourth team in four seasons.
