Victor Wembanyama Takes Full Accountability After Game 1 Loss To Knicks

Victor Wembanyama isn't losing sleep over the San Antonio Spurs' loss to the New York Knicks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

Despite having a 55-48 halftime lead over the Knicks, the Spurs were unable to step up in the second half. Wembanyama was unable to establish any rhythm on the offensive side of the floor. Although he had 26 points, he went 6-of-21 from the field. Jalen Brunson, on the other hand, finished Game 1 with 30 points. It was an impressive performance considering he suffered a knee injury in the first quarter.

When asked about San Antonio's loss, Wembanyama told reporters, "I'm not worried in the slightest"

"I'm gonna figure it out. I was bad tonight," the French phenom said. "It's not more complicated than that."

The Spurs aren't lacking confidence.

Following the Spurs' loss in Game 1, rookie guard Dylan Harper spoke highly about Wembanyama and his ability to bounce back from adversity.

"I think we're all confident," Harper said. "I feel like that is kind of who he is. He never backs down from the moment. …I feel like going into the next game, we're going to be even hungrier, keep on improving."

The Spurs will need Wembanyama at his best on Friday night if they want to avoid going down 0-2 in this series.

Tipoff for Game 2 is at 8:30 p.m. ET.
