ESPN Faces Backlash For Coverage Of 2026 Women's College World Series
ESPN has had premier coverage of the 2026 Women's College World Series for years. However, this year, the Worldwide Leader in Sports is facing some backlash for its coverage.
The Worldwide Leader in Sports has had some audio and visual issues during the 2026 tournament, which is taking place in Oklahoma City.
ESPN faced backlash for some outages this weekend. They appeared to have some camera issues, as well. Much of this took place on Saturday, May 30.
Fans were not happy.
"What a joke," one wrote.
"Brutal," one added.
"ESPN is not locked in, man," another shared.
The Worldwide Leader in Sports has continued to air the games on Sunday, though fans have continued to speak out on social media.
"Good to know ESPN doesn't have the ability/money to fully air the WCWS on ABC but they can give every SEC school 70 million+ for their media deal. Love a network that's for all sports ❤️❤️," one added.
What really happened at the Women's College World Series?
There was an actual camera issue this weekend, though there appeared to be a legitimate camera accident, too.
The Women's College World Series is consistently one of the best events in all of sports at this time of year. Hopefully, there won't be any more technical or production issues at the tournament moving forward.
There are still several big names involved, including Texas and Tennessee, who are leading the Winners' Bracket in the double-elimination tournament.
Full coverage of the 2026 Women's College World Series will continue on ESPN on Monday.
