Taylor Swift Is Being Urged To Have Travis Kelce Sign Prenup Before Wedding

It's almost wedding time for Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and the Eras Tour pop star are expected to get married later this summer in New York City. Several prominent celebrities are expected to be in attendance. Besides that, though, details are sparse.

However, as we head into the big day, Swift is being urged to have Kelce sign a prenuptial agreement. It would be pretty shocking if there wasn't something in place already. Swift is worth more than $1 billion, while Kelce's net worth has likely surpassed $100 million at this point, too.

Prenuptial agreements don't have to be a negative.

Forbes is urging Swift to have Kelce sign a prenuptial agreement before their wedding later this summer.

"Even if you're not a billionaire, you can avoid trouble by settling some money and property issues in advance of marriage. As millennials and GenZers know, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail," Forbes writes.

"It's been a love story for nearly three years, and now Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have to deal with some champagne problems, including how property will be treated during their marriage (and divided if it ends). With rumors of an early July wedding in New York City swirling, how will the couple now sort out what stays "mine" and what becomes "ours" in the relationship? The answer is almost surely a prenuptial agreement."

Prenuptial agreements aren't just for billionaires and millionaires

Julie R. Colton, a partner and family law attorney at Obermayer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, told Forbes that a growing percentage of the population is seeking out prenuptial agreements right now.

"It's not just millionaires or billionaires looking for advice," she observes.

Notably, children of divorce are more likely to seek out prenuptial agreements. Swift and Kelce, for example, both have parents that have separated.

It would be fascinating to see what kind of prenuptial agreement Kelce and Swift have agreed to.
