Angel Reese's Home Debut In Atlanta Sunday Is Not Going Well
Angel Reese is making her home debut in Atlanta on Sunday. It's not going very well, though.
The third-year WNBA forward was traded from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream this offseason. Reese, a two-time WNBA All-Star, is excited for an opportunity to start fresh with a new team.
Reese and the Dream opened the season on the road, posting two straight wins to begin the year. But they're taking on A'ja Wilson and the WNBA favorite Las Vegas Aces on Sunday afternoon. It's been a tough contest for the Dream so far.
Angel Reese opened the home opener with six turnovers in the first half. It's practically unheard of for a post player to have six turnovers in a game, let alone a half.
The WNBA world is pretty stunned.
"How did Angel Reese have 6 turnovers in a half?" Sports Illustrated WNBA writer Robin Lundberg asked.
Reese does have 7 points on 1 of 3 shooting, but the six first half turnovers are an extreme killer. WNBA fans know that Reese is talented, but she can't be turning the ball over as much as she is.
WNBA fans react to Reese's struggles
"Angel got 6 turnovers 💔💔💔," one wrote.
"I give Angel credit for not getting passive when her team needs her. Wish the offensive fouls didn't also get counted as turnovers," one shared.
"Poster girl Angel Reese = 7 pts, 6 turnovers in the first half as Dream trail by 7," one added.
"I caught the last minute of the 2nd quarter. Why is there a clip of A'ja Wilson biting on an Angel Reese pump fake from 3 and how did Angel Reese get 6 turnovers in the first half?" another fan wondered.
"Angel Reese 🤡 More turnovers than rebounds More turnovers than points Can't make layups Can't shoot jumpers," one shared.
It's been an up and down start to the season for Reese, that's for sure.
