Oilers' Kris Knoblauch Announces Injury News After Forward Leaves Ducks Game
The Edmonton Oilers opened their playoff series with a comeback win, but it came with two setbacks before the game was over.
Edmonton erased a third-period deficit to defeat the Anaheim Ducks 4-3 in Game 1, with depth players making the difference on Monday.
It was forwards Kasperi Kapanen and Jason Dickinson, each scoring twice, who helped the Oilers recover from a 3-2 score after surrendering three goals in the second period following a 2-0 lead through the first period.
The win gave Edmonton an early series lead, but the lineup did not remain intact throughout the night.
Veteran forward Adam Henrique exited the game in the first period following a collision with teammate Kasperi Kapanen.
Henrique appeared to grab his knee before heading down the tunnel and did not return, finishing with just 2:56 of ice time.
Head coach Kris Knoblauch addressed the situation after the game, confirming the team would need more clarity.
"Obviously, he got tied up there in front of the net. Wasn't eligible to come back and we'll find out (Tuesday) exactly how long that injury is," Knoblauch said.
"Knowing how he's played in the playoffs, especially with that Podkolzin, Draisaitl & Kappy line that's been so good, that's when we've seen Kappy play his best."

Judging by Knoblauch's words, it's fair to assume Henrique could miss time going forward in the series.
"It's gonna be a big hole. We'll miss him," Knoblauch said. "He's been so good on our special teams. Obviously, we're going to need other guys to step up if we are to lose him."
Henrique finished the regular season with 15 points in 65 games, scoring three times and assisting on 12 goals.
Edmonton will host the Ducks for Game 2 on Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET before the series shifts to Anaheim.
