Traffic Watch: More commuter challenges along State Roads 836, 874 and Homestead Extension

Commuters will face challenges this week along State Roads 836, 874 and the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike, as well as on major surface roads such as Northwest 57th Avenue in Hialeah.

Several ramps will close intermittently on State Road 836 this week for various roadwork tasks, prompting closures or restrictions at various junctions through Thursday from 10 p.m to 5 a.m. each night.

The ramps include those at Northwest 17th, 27th, 37, 45th and 57th avenues.

On State Road 874, the entrance ramp from Southwest 88th Street/Kendall Drive will be closed for FPL pole relocation through Friday from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night.

On the Turnpike, one or two northbound or southbound lanes may be closed nightly at various locations for widening and toll express lane construction between Southwest 104th Street/Killian Parkway and 216th Street from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Thursday.

Also on the Turnpike, one lane may be closed overnight at the southbound exit at Southwest 120th Street from 9 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.

On Northwest 57th Avenue in Hialeah, workers have implemented a new traffic pattern shift from just south of West 60th to 65th streets. The work is part of the reconstruction of 57th Avenue which is expected to continue until 2017.
