Roadwork has resumed after the Thanksgiving holiday, hampering traffic on State Road 826, the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike, Interstate 95 and Red Road in Hialeah.
All southbound lanes on SR 826 will be closed at Northwest 25th Street in Doral Thursday and possibly Friday, as an alternate date, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. so a contractor can work on a viaduct bridge over the expressway. The viaduct is an elevated roadway mainly intended for trucks ferrying cargo from Miami International Airport (MIA) and a warehouse hub in Doral.
Meanwhile, in Hialeah, lanes on West 68th Street at Northwest 57th Avenue/West 4th Avenue/Red Road are closed around the clock for the next two weeks so a contractor can work on drainage and road reconstruction at the site. Lanes on Northwest 57th Avenue/West 4th Avenue/Red Road will remain open.
On the Turnpike, one or two northbound or southbound lanes may be closed nightly at various locations between Southwest 216th Street and Eureka Drive/Southwest 184th Street between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. through Thursday. Also on the Turnpike, one or two lanes in each direction between Southwest 104th Street/Killian Parkway and Southwest 184th Street/Eureka Drive may be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. through Thursday.
Elsewhere on the Turnpike, all northbound lanes south of Bird Road will be closed from 11:59 p.m. Wednesday until 4 a.m. Thursday so workers can remove an overhead sign. In addition, one or two Turnpike lanes in each direction between Bird Road and Sunset Drive may close from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Thursday.
On I-95, the ramp to the Turnpike and westbound 826 will be closed through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.; and on Friday and Saturday between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m. A similar closure, during the same time periods, will affect the northbound I-95 ramp to the Turnpike and 826.
