Florida’s Turnpike in Broward County reopened Tuesday evening after hours of traffic on the southbound lanes between Commercial Boulevard and Sunrise Boulevard. A vehicle fire caused all lanes to be shut down — rerouting hundreds of cars — during the peak of rush hour.

As of 8p.m., all lanes were clear and cars flowed smoothly. Just four hours earlier, all southbound lanes were blocked off as fire rescue and the Florida Highway Patrol worked to extinguish an apparent bus fire, traffic cameras showed.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
