Missing straws spark altercation in Wendy’s drive-thru

Independence police released surveillance video on Tuesday that appears to show a Wendy’s employee climbing through a drive-thru window during an altercation with customers last weekend.

The employee’s mother has told local media the incident was sparked by a couple of missing drink straws.

The employee was working at the Wendy’s restaurant near U.S. 40 and the Blue Ridge Cutoff when customers assaulted her shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday, grabbing her through the window, according to police.

The employee, identified in local television reports as Victoria Repine, 19, is 3 months pregnant and was injured in the incident. Her mother told reporters that that two female customers had become angry with Repine over a couple of drink straws missing from their order.

While earlier news reports said Repine was dragged through the window by her attackers, the video appears to show that she was initially grabbed but then climbed out of the window on her own accord, according to police.

Police are investigating the incident and are looking for a suspect vehicle described as a purple Dodge Charger.
