A pregnant teen ‘can’t wait’ to give birth. Then a firefighter hit her car, cops say

Eighteen-year-old Alyssa Pimentel was so excited about her pregnancy that her Facebook profile photo is of a sonogram.

In October, she wrote on Facebook, “can’t wait till january!!,” which is when the Texas teen expected her baby to arrive, according to her aunt Mary Flores Pimentel, who confirmed the news to McClatchy. That post came with images of her unborn child and her growing belly.

“Just me and you baby boy,” she wrote.

But on Wednesday morning, an off-duty Dallas firefighter that cops believe had been drinking smashed into her Mazda SUV, sending both her and a male passenger flying out of the car, according to the Cedar Hill Police Department.

Pimentel and her unborn child died, police wrote, while her companion was rushed to the hospital with “serious injuries.”

Mary Flores Pimentel wrote on Facebook that her “beautiful niece and her baby have gone to heaven to be with the Lord.”

Horace Shaw, who police identified as that firefighter, has been placed on administrative leave, according to WFAA, which reported that Pimentel’s boyfriend has a broken neck.

Police say Shaw struck Pimentel from behind while allegedly speeding in his white Mercedes just before 1 a.m., NBC reported.

Both the off-duty firefighter and his passenger in the Mercedes were also rushed to the hospital, although their injuries are considered “non-life threatening,” according to police.

“Our preliminary investigation has revealed the driver of the Mercedes is a fireman for the city of Dallas, who was off duty at the time of the crash,” police wrote in a press release. “We also believe alcohol and speed were contributing factors in the crash.”

Pimentel’s father told WFAA that his daughter planned to name her son Josiah.

She was a “sweetheart, a kind, caring person who would have done anything for anyone,” he said.
