Eight Cuban migrants came ashore on the beach of Bal Harbour early Tuesday, according to police.
The group arrived around 3:30 a.m. in the 9800 block of Collins Avenue. Two witnesses called 911 to report the landing.
Bal Harbour police told CBS4 that the eight migrants were in good condition after arriving in a 25-foot wooden boat with a small engine. The group has been turned over to the Border Patrol for processing.
The group took to the sea 11 days ago, police said.
“They said they encountered a sizeable storm which drifted them onto an island which they believe was in the Bahamas,” Bal Harbour Capt. Mike Delarosa told CBS4. “After the storm they set sail again.”
