Young man found shot to death in North Miami Beach alley
North Miami Beach police officers responding to a “shots fired” call found a young man dead in an alley Sunday morning.
Det. Richard Rand said the man — possibly a teenager — was found between Northeast 15th and 16th avenues and Northeast 174th and 175th streets with at least one gunshot wound.
“This young man was murdered on a Sunday morning in a residential neighborhood,” Rand said. “That is very concerning to us.”
As of late Sunday, Rand said detectives did not have a motive or any suspects.
“We are certainly asking for the public’s help,” he said.
This homicide came two days after a man attempted to kill a woman and then killed himself at a home on Northeast 19th Avenue and 180th Street in North Miami Beach.
When police arrived they found a woman who had been shot in the face. Not knowing whether someone was still inside, police later sent in a robot and found the man dead.
Police have not yet identified the pair, but friends told Miami Herald news partner CBS4 that the man was 56-year-old Manuel Leon and the woman was 52-year-old Lidia Lopez, also known as Gigi.
Anyone with information about Sunday's shooting is asked to call 305-949-5500 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
