Cutler Bay, Palmetto Bay volunteers help restore wetlands
More than 50 volunteers from Cutler Bay and Palmetto Bay joined the South Florida Water Management District to clean and restore South Florida’s sensitive wetland ecosystem on June 4 and 5.
The volunteers worked on the Coastal Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay Habitat restoration project, located between Southwest 176th and 195th streets east of Old Cutler Road, and extending to the Florida Bay. They planted dozens of pines, palmettos, and other native plants and grasses. The group also worked on a rustic trail through the project, which will expand as restoration continues.
