Two-alarm blaze rips through Cutler Bay apartment building

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews worked for hours to quell the flames that ripped through a Cutler Bay condo building Wednesday night.

The two-alarm blaze began around 7 p.m. at 8630 SW 212th St. inside LeClub at Saga Bay Apartments.

“When fire crews arrived, they saw flames and heavy smoke emanating from the roof of the building,” the department said in a news release. “Due to the intensity of the flames, the incident was upgraded to a second alarm fire, meaning more units were brought to the scene to assist in the fire fight.”

Firefighters used ladder trucks to target the roof, while others fought the flames from the ground, the department said.

The department said no injuries were immediately reported and it was not known what started the fire.

The American Red Cross responded to help families in need.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Lt. Kirsten Miller told reporters on the scene that 24 units were impacted.
