Miami police officer dies after found unresponsive by girlfriend
Miami police officers are mourning one of their own after a fellow cop was found unresponsive in his home Saturday.
Lenny Linardos was found unresponsive by his girlfriend on Saturday, according to a Facebook post made by Javier Ortiz, the president of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police. Linardos later died at Aventura Hospital.
In his post, Ortiz asked for prayers for Linardos’ girlfriend and 10-year-old son.
The medical examiner’s office is working to determine the cause of Linardos’ death.
Family and friends shared condolences and memories on social media.
“This dude always had not just mine, but all of our backs on these crazy streets, a genuine heart and always smiling,” MeSoni Scott wrote in a Facebook post.
While Miami Police Department shared their condolences on Twitter, a spokesman declined to speak further about Linardos’s death.
