The body of a man was found on the side of the Julia Tuttle Causeway early Thursday morning, according to authorities.

The Miami Florida Highway Patrol was first on scene after the body was discovered around 10 a.m. on the eastbound side of I-195, just east of the Biscayne Boulevard entrance to the Miami side of the causeway, according to Miami Police spokesperson Kiara Delva.

The FHP requested the assistance of Miami Police, said Delva.

The man may have been homeless and no foul play is suspected, according to law-enforcement investigators. The investigation remains ongoing.

Past troubles on the causeway

In September, a woman was found with multiple gunshot wounds on the Miami Beach side of the causeway. Police later said the woman was kidnapped from a Miami Gardens home after being confronted by a group over alleged money, drugs and a stolen firearm.

The woman was shot three times on the causeway before the group fled, according to police. Despite her injuries, police say the victim walked along the causeway looking for help until Miami Beach Police got a call about a body on the side of the road. Police have since made arrests in the case.

This report will be updated.
