Stabbing suspect at nightclub shot by Miami-Dade officer
An altercation at a nightclub Sunday morning ended with two people stabbed and another shot by a Miami-Dade officer, police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta said.
The violence unfolded around 7 a.m. at El Nuevo Romance, 3451 NW 36th St., east of the airport and near Miami Jai-Alai. Dozens of officers and detectives went to the nightclub, including county police brass.
A 22-year-old man, Zabaleta said, stabbed two people after a dispute. Police did not say whether the stabbing took place inside the nightclub.
Witnesses then flagged down a Miami-Dade police officer in the area. The officer who went to the club got involved in a confrontation and shot the stabbing suspect, Zabaleta said.
All of the wounded were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Their conditions and identities have not been released.
The police officer, with seven years on the force, was not injured.
