Small plane crashes in Tavernier; no injuries

A small plane crashed trying to land Thursday evening at Tavernaero Park Airport, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The pilot was the only person on board and was not injured in the crash.

The plane hit some phone lines when it crashed at the small private airport on Plantation Key, the sheriff’s office reported. People who live in the area of Plantation Avenue may experience problems with their service.
