Two dead in Thursday shooting in Tavernier

A shooting in the Upper Keys Thursday night left two people  dead.

Tara Rosado, 26, and Carlos Ortiz, 30, were found inside a house on Cuba Road near Harry Harris Park in Tavernier around 2 p.m., neighbors said.

No other information was available except it was not a murder-suicide, indicating a double-murder suspect is on the loose, said the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

The couple had three children ages 3, 4 and 8. The children told a neighbor the two were dead, indicating the children were in the house when it happened or discovered their parents shortly thereafter.
